Job Description Summary

You will join the Product Validation (PV) team and will be responsible for commercial and military Development Engine Test readiness, setup, and execution. In this role the Lead Test Engineer acts as the Test Director coordinating test card execution, setup, facility needs, inspections, and deliverables. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating engineering requirements, partnering with Evaluation and Systems engineering, contributing towards design, implementation of new test systems, upgrading existing, and leading the test operations team to execute a test campaign. In the role of Lead Test Engineer - Testing you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and impact short-term and some long-term business goals. This position includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Self-judgment and action is required yet this is typically with limited guidance from Senior level, Controlled Title Holders, and/or management.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute to leadership, systems, and program guidance the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements
  • Interpret Program requirements and relay to proper TSE department employees for integration
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers with technical oversight
  • Generate budget and schedule contract proposals for test efforts collaborating with responsible teams
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated with CTH guidance
  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
  • Manage development engine test assets and/or rigs tests to ensure timely schedule and test mission fulfillment
  • Help capture all lessons learned, corrective actions, and grow knowledge across engine owners
  • Participate in priority meetings, understand hardware needs, grow to lead tollgate reviews and execute tests in GE facilities
  • Maintain transparent collaboration with Systems Engineering and Program Customers
  • Ability to build network across department leaders to establish business priorities
  • Apply documented best practices and TSE processes with minimal oversight
  • Uses technical judgment with oversight to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering
  • Motivation to grow test skillsets to become team mentor/leader for colleagues with less experience
  • Act as on-site test director on run days preparing test cards and facility direction with Customer, Operations, and Test Monitors

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
  • At least 3 additional years of experience in an Engineering position or development test experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

  • Familiarity with the Product Validation Department Sections and Sub-Sections
  • Engine and Rig test experience
  • Experience with finance and scheduling tools, Open plan, Clarity, Spotfire
  • Established project management skills and ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence small team and across functions
  • Experience working with DoD and/or Commercial customer and processes
  • Basic understanding of FLIGHT DECK fundamentals and Lean tools
  • Able to obtain DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher
