We are seeking a Lab Services Supervisor
Â
Job Summary: Responsible for completing and overseeing the training of all staff throughout the Laboratory while working closely with the Management Team. Responsibilities includes training and mentoring employees; evaluating training performance of assigned personnel, monitor training performance action plans for employees, improve operational efficiencies by focusing on thorough training; maintain harmony in the workplace and professional business demeanor at all times.Â

Essential Responsibilities:Â
- Supervise and perform laboratory training of new and current laboratory personnel to ensure compliance with FSNS Quality Manual, SOP's and quality control measures specified to maintain compliance with ISO 17025 guidelinesÂ
- Perform internal audits of training and ensure accurate performance and interpretation of test resultsÂ
- Provide feedback for and administer laboratory personnel training reviewsÂ
- Directly address client needs as required and in collaboration with the Management Team. Oversee status of all results and reporting for clients on laboratory results as needed (including notification of out of specification results)Â
- Process samples when needed, and ability to perform all roles that report to supervisorÂ
- Perform analyses in various laboratory areas, when neededÂ
- Maintain a high degree of technical competence by reading scientific journals, attending professional workshops, and being aware of food industry issues and trendsÂ
- Work closely with the Operations and Technical Managers and assists when neededÂ
- Assisting with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved with encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services TeamÂ
- Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their areaÂ
- Responsible for the completion of required Trainer qualification trainingÂ
Â
Education & Experience:Â
Â
- Bachelor's degree in Life Science or related fieldÂ
- Master’s degree in Life Science or related field preferredÂ
- Two years of analytical laboratory experienceÂ
- Or equivalent combination of education and experienceÂ
- Familiarity with GMP , OSHA guidelines, FDA, BAM, APHA, and Compendium methods and procedureÂ
- Knowledge of LIMS and Microsoft Office Products software.Â
- One year of experience managing personnelÂ
- Training in general laboratory practicesÂ
- Language Skills:Â
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Â
- Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to understand and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Â
- Reasoning Ability & Independent Judgment:Â
- Applies critical thinking to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Â

Supervision:Â
Â
- Supervision and oversight of up to 30 incumbents, dependent on Lab volume.Â
- Physical Demands/Work Environment:Â
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer componentsÂ
- Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogensÂ
- Noise level varies from quiet to loudÂ
- Temperature varies from hot to coldÂ
- Interactive and fast-paced team oriented tasksÂ
- Overnight Travel is required at the discretion of managementÂ
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Â
