Summary
Verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment, assembles cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers, inserts items into container, affixes shipping labels on packed cartons, and labels identifying information and shipping instructions onto containers.
- Identifies hazardous materials, packages and labels accordingly.
- Posts weights and shipping charges.
- Uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping to work area.
- Recommends methods to improve shipping methods, working conditions, use of equipment and equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Assists with related special projects, as required.
- Will be certified to the DG (Dangerous Goods) process within the first three months of hire date.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
