Summary

Perform a variety of analytical laboratory support activities (sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analyses) for Quality Control and Product Development. Conducts routine laboratory quality control tasks associated with determining that quality standards for materials and products are met. Provide technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively whilst adhering to procedures and lab safety guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Testing and Quality Control
  • Performs laboratory testing and quality control testing to verify products confirm to specifications.
  • Operates and helps to maintain analytical laboratory equipment. Ensures the laboratory is stocked with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Tests functional performance of production components and assemblies under specified environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure, and vibration).
  • Maintains laboratory practices and process documentation. Helps to develops, implement, maintain, update, and improve standard operating procedures and work instructions for all laboratory and QC testing.
  • Produces reliable and precise data to support outcome and results of all laboratory and quality control testing.
  • Prepares specimens and samples for inspection and testing.
  • Sets up equipment, conducts calibration and control routines to ensure equipment and supplies are operating properly before any testing is conducted.
  • Prepares reports that outline testing protocols, results of tests, summary of testing, appraisal of deficiencies or failures, and shares reports with appropriate personnel.
  • Collects and analyzes statistical data to monitor and maintain control of processes and product quality. May conduct mathematical calculations to prepare graphs and charts that demonstrate levels of control.
  • Support Quality Assurance
  • Assists in the maintenance and control of all inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
  • Works with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing to identify root cause and correct process deficiencies and quality problems in manufacturing and Quality Control.
  • Evaluates products returned via Returned Material Authorizations (RMA's), verifies condition of product, reports findings, and proposes proper product disposition according to process.
  • Assist supervisors in tracking and trending quality issues. Recommends and helps to implement corrective actions to improve quality.
  • Assist in Quality Audits.
  • May support complaint handling and root cause analysis of complaints.
  • May support product or process verifications and validations.
  • Assists with related special projects, as required.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

Education and or Experience

Requires at least one of the following;

  1. BA/BS in Life Sciences or equivalent
  2. Five (5) or more years of QC Laboratory Technician experience (bio-analytical technology preferred)
  3. Equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with laboratory safety principles, procedures, and the handling of hazardous materials.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiar with precision laboratory analytical equipment;
    • Chemistry analyzers
    • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) analyzer
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and science concepts;
    • Electronic (voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance).
    • Biochemistry (assays, photometry, immunoturbidimetry, histology).
  • Ability and skills in the use of advanced personal computer productivity programs for word processing, spreadsheets, database manipulation and flow charts.
