LAB TECHNICIAN

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Lab Technician ensures that all materials for rail shipments, truck shipments, (In-going & outbound) and plant sampling points are gathered, sampled, analyzed and results submitted to the production and materials management teams in a timely fashion.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to perform all duties and activities to create a safe, environmentally compliant workplace that produces high quality products in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Must perform all duties and activities in a manner that is aligned with our company values:  Integrity, Humility, Collaboration, Customer Focus, Excellence, Open to Change and Innovation.
  • Will operate/maintain lab equipment to include x-ray fluorescence spectrometer (X-ray analyzer), Geiger counter, scales, etc.
  • Ability to communicate with lab personnel and management team on all sampling data.
  • Ability to interpret data and relay information to appropriate personnel to ensure controlled process flow.
  • Ability to learn the purpose and relationship of all plant processes.
  • Ability to complete designated paperwork.
  • Ability to operate truck scales in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to perform additional duties as assigned such as back-up to receiving techs and other positions.
  • Ability to work additional assigned hours.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be self-motivated.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Must complete and maintain all respirator training and certification.
  • Must complete and maintain all HAZWOPER training and certification.
  • Must complete and maintain all mobile equipment training and certifications.
  • Must complete and maintain any additional assigned company required training and certifications.
  • Ability to learn and apply all required training in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Basic knowledge and use of writing and arithmetic.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to wear respirator.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. at waist level for short durations.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, push, or pull for extended periods of time.
