The Human Resources Specialist supports the organization's human resources functions by administering HR programs, policies, and procedures. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers, ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies while supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR operations.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Coordinate and manage recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and offer preparation.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
  • Maintain applicant tracking systems and recruitment records.

Employee Relations

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues and workplace concerns by conducting formal investigations.
  • Support performance management and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.

Benefits & Compensation Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs, enrollment, and changes.
  • Assist employees with benefits-related questions and issues.
  • Coordinate leave administration and accommodation processes.

HR Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Support audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with policy development and updates.

Training & Development

  • Assist with coordinating training programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Track employee training completion and certifications.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning efforts.

HR Operations

  • Assist with employee recognition and wellness programs.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives.
  • Participate in special HR projects as assigned.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Assists in reviewing employee timecards for accuracy and monitor plant attendance.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Attend staff meetings to give updates and assist in developing department goals.
  • Adhere to attendance guidelines of the company.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Attributes

  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefit programs including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint).

Workplace Experience and Academic

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or meat processing facility is preferred but not required.
  • At least 2 years in HR related field. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business or related field or combination of equivalent experience.
