Job Summary: The Pharmacy Resident 1 is a one-year training position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy. The resident works directly with faculty of the department in order to further refine their patient care delivery skills. The training program has an emphasis on the development of future clinical faculty for pharmacy education and as such the resident is expected to participate actively in the curricular offerings of the School of Pharmacy. Serving as both an instructor in the traditional didactic lecture and as a facilitator in small group discussions will be a key component of the position responsibilities. The resident will serve as a preceptor and mentor for senior students during their advanced practice professional experiences. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy required. Minimum one year of experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications: Eligibility for Licensure as a Pharmacist in the State of California required.
