Position Summary
As a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Madison Health, you will be responsible for assisting the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Routine technician functions are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These functions may include unit dose dispensing, intravenous admixing, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and extensive use of equipment and technology.
This is a full-time, day shift position that will be scheduled from 7:30am to 4:00pm. Â
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the pharmacist in providing medication, drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel. Â
- Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile products, including hazardous medication (chemotherapy).
- Restocks decentralized automated dispensing devices and prepare medications for devices to be checked by a pharmacist.
- Assists in overall inventory control by verifying and putting away medications from wholesaler, placing orders with wholesaler or direct purchase, review stick for proper storage and current expiration dates. Â
- Package medications that are not commercially available in unit dose packages; properly label medications and maintain records.
- Assists the pharmacist in the daily operation of the department; properly prioritize workload; demonstrates responsibility and ability to act independently in areas not requiring the professional judgement of a registered pharmacist. Â Â Â Â
Required Qualifications
- Licensure/Certification: Pharmacy Technician Certification required. Â Â Â Â Pharmacy Technician License in the State of Ohio required. Â
