JOB SUMMARY

This role is responsible for applying a high-quality powder coat finish to all fabricated metal parts. Powder coating is a non-toxic, electrostatic process that produces a durable, professional finish on all WMS steel components.

The full scope of this role includes loading the paint conveyor, painting steel components, and performing quality inspections. The ideal candidate is a fast learner who pays close attention to detail and works well in a team environment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Part Selection & Staging: Select correct metal parts according to the shop work order and stage them for the paint line.
  • Conveyor Loading: Select and hang appropriate hooks and jigging on the moving conveyor in preparation for loading metal parts; hang parts accurately while the conveyor is in motion.
  • Powder Coat Process: Apply powder coating to parts, ensuring proper coverage by preparing the paint applicator and managing color changes as needed.
  • Inspection & Packaging: Inspect painted and assembled parts for quality and accuracy; package finished products per order specifications.
  • Work Order Compliance: Read and follow work orders accurately to ensure correct parts, finishes, and quantities are processed.
  • Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized work area; adhere to all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Perform duties across departments: cross-train and work in areas as assigned, adapting to workload demands and production priorities throughout the facility.

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow work orders accurately and catch quality issues before they advance downstream.
  • Work Ethic: Strong attendance, punctuality, and the ability to keep pace in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
  • Teamwork: Cooperative spirit and the ability to work effectively with others across departments.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; no prior manufacturing experience necessary - we train.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is performed in WMS's Londonderry, NH manufacturing facility. The following physical demands are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

  • Regularly required to stand and walk throughout the shift; use hands to handle parts and tooling; reach, bend, stoop, and crouch as the work requires.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs., with team-lift protocols for heavier components.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to moderate-to-loud noise levels - hearing protection required and provided.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, silica-based powder particles and airborne particles typical of a paint and assembly environment - PPE required and provided.
