Job Description:

As a member of our technical staff, you will be part of an engineering team in a challenging, fast-paced company where creative designs become production reality. L3Harris - Londonderry has a first shift opening for an experienced Machinist working in a “tool room” environment. This shop provides custom tooling, fixturing and prototype work (high mix / low volume). Working from blueprints and solid models to program, set up, operate and inspect work to support manufacturing and engineering teams. The successful candidate will need to collaborate with other machinists as well as engineers to accomplish challenging meaningful work.

Essential Functions:

• Programming, using ProtoTrak conversational programming interface as well as MasterCam software
• Set up, fixturing / tooling on 3 axis Mills / Lathes
• Operate, High mix / Low volume jobs
• Inspect, assuring parts are conforming to blueprints
• Parts finishing / deburring / cleaning
• Maintain safe, clean, organized work environment
• Collaborate / share knowledge / Train lower-level Machinists

Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• High level of cutting tool knowledge and task execution
• Experience with manual / CNC mills / Lathes
• Programming proficiency; Cam software, Conversational, G-code
• Ability to program and repeatably fixture complex parts to a high level of accuracy
• Able to Read and interpret Blueprints / GD+T
• Working knowledge of common metrology tools
• Good written and Oral communication skills
• Experience with ProtoTrak
• Experience with MasterCam
• Ability to use Microsoft office programs
