The Healthcare Operations Senior Counsel provides legal counsel and strategic guidance on healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, risk management, and business initiatives. This role partners closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, compliance, human resources, finance, and operational stakeholders to ensure adherence to federal and state healthcare laws while supporting organizational growth and operational excellence. 


Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel and regulatory guidance on healthcare operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and related regulations.
  • Partner with operational, clinical, and executive leaders to support day-to-day business activities, strategic initiatives, and operational decision-making.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of healthcare-related contracts, including provider, vendor, managed care, technology, and business associate agreements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal, regulatory, and operational risks through proactive counseling and risk management strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks that support organizational objectives.
  • Support internal audits, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and government examinations, collaborating with compliance and risk management teams on corrective actions.
  • Advise on healthcare transactions, affiliations, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic growth initiatives, including due diligence activities.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, evaluate organizational impact, and provide recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Design and deliver legal and compliance training for leaders and employees, fostering a culture of ethics, accountability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 4-7 years of legal experience, preferably in healthcare law or healthcare operations.
  • Experience supporting healthcare providers, hospitals, physician groups, health systems, payer organizations, or healthcare service companies.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory and operational issues.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical business-oriented advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with executive and operational leadership.

 

This is a hybrid position with a minimum requirement of 2-days a week in-office in either Lone Tree, Colorado or Tampa, Florida.

Compensation Minimum

USD $130,000.00/Yr.
Compensation Maximum

USD $175,000.00/Yr.
