About the Role:
The Activity Assistant role is centered on creating and facilitating engaging, safe, and inclusive recreational programs and events for diverse groups of participants. This position aims to enhance the overall experience of individuals by promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation through well-organized activities. The Activity Assistant will work closely with participants to understand their interests and needs, adapting activities accordingly to maximize enjoyment and participation. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with team members and management to plan and execute a variety of programs that align with organizational goals and community standards. Ultimately, the Activities Staff contributes to fostering a positive environment that supports personal growth, wellness, and community connection.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with diverse groups in a recreational, educational, or community setting.
- Basic knowledge of safety and emergency procedures relevant to group activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in first aid and CPR.
- Experience in program planning or recreational therapy.
- Background in working with children, seniors, or individuals with special needs.
- Proficiency in using technology to support activity planning and participant engagement.
- Additional language skills to communicate with a diverse participant base.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead daily recreational and social activities tailored to the interests and abilities of participants.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities by following established protocols and guidelines.
- Engage with participants to encourage involvement, provide support, and address any concerns or feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activity outcomes, and any incidents or observations.
- Collaborate with other staff members and supervisors to develop new programs and improve existing activities.
Skills:
The required skills such as communication and interpersonal abilities are essential for effectively engaging participants and fostering a welcoming environment. Safety knowledge is applied daily to ensure all activities are conducted without risk, maintaining participant trust and organizational compliance. Preferred skills like first aid certification and experience with special populations enhance the staff member's capability to respond to emergencies and tailor activities to individual needs. Program planning skills enable the Activity Staff to design varied and stimulating activities that keep participants motivated and involved. Additionally, technological proficiency supports efficient scheduling, record-keeping, and communication, streamlining daily operations and improving overall program quality.
