What Makes This Role Different

  • You’ll own your work. This isn’t a support role — you’ll manage real client relationships and run your own projects.
  • You’ll grow fast. We’re a lean consulting team, which means no 10-person committee between you and meaningful work.
  • Your technical knowledge gets used every day — on site, in client meetings, and in the regulatory documents that matter.
  • $90K–$115K + work from home flexibility + full benefits. We’re competitive and we’re upfront about it.

About CDMS

We’re an EH&S consulting firm based in Long Beach, California. Our clients are California businesses — manufacturers, distributors, tech companies, healthcare facilities — and they rely on us to keep them compliant, safe, and ahead of California’s ever-evolving regulatory landscape. We’re a tight-knit team. People stay here because they like who they work with and they like the work they do.

The Role

We need an EHS Compliance Project Manager with 2-6 years of industry experience to take ownership of a portfolio of California clients. You’ll be the person they call when they have a compliance question, a permit issue, or an audit coming up. You’ll write the reports, run the trainings, lead the field work, and manage the relationship.

We’re looking for someone who wants to step up — not someone who wants to be handed a script and told what to do.

What You'll Do

  • Manage EHS projects for our clients, providing exceptional client service while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Develop environmental, health and safety programs for clients.
  • Prepare a variety of environmental reports for our clients including HMBPs, Biennial Reports, SWPPPs, SMRs, AERs, Form R, and more.
  • Assist with permitting requirements and documentation (air quality, wastewater, Tiered Permitting, storm water, etc.).
  • Conduct training for employees of client companies.
  • Conduct monitoring (air monitoring, soil sampling, etc.).
  • Conduct compliance audits.
  • Provide ongoing compliance support to clients.

What You Bring

  • 2–6 years consulting or industry experience — you know how this works.
  • Solid working knowledge of California EH&S regs: CalOSHA, air quality, hazmat, stormwater, wastewater. Strong in at least one area.
  • You can write a regulatory report, present findings to a client, and lead a training — all in the same week.
  • Bachelor’s in an environmental or engineering field.
  • Professional certifications are valued. If you don’t have one, we’ll help you get there.
  • You manage your own schedule, prioritize well, and don’t need to be micromanaged.

What You Get

  • $90,000–$115,000 depending on experience.
  • Medical, Dental, 401K with match, HSA.
  • Real advancement — we want you to grow into a senior consultant and eventually help lead service development.
  • Cert and education support — we’ll fund what makes you better at the job.

Honest Heads-Up

This role involves field work — you’ll be on client sites in Southern California. It also involves client management, which means occasionally tough conversations. If you’re looking for a purely desk-based role, this might not be the fit. If you thrive on variety and direct client impact, keep reading.

CDMS Mission

Our mission is to enable California industries to meet regulations efficiently, protecting business prosperity, workforce safety, and environmental health.

Our Core Values

Client First - Their problems are our problems. We anticipate what clients need before they have to ask. "Is this the right thing for the client?" is top of mind for us. We are prompt and act in the client's best interest.

Win Together - Each teammate's work contributes to everyone else's success. We share what we know openly. We back each other up, especially under pressure. We are honest and direct, even when it's uncomfortable.

Own It - Commit, communicate, deliver - to our clients and to one another. We make clear commitments with clear timelines. We carry them out as agreed. When we anticipate that we are not going to be able to, we say so immediately and work to restore the plan so others can coordinate around us. We don't fail silently — we communicate.

Tech Powered - We use technology to work smarter, move faster, and deliver more. If there's a better tool or a better way, we find it. That advantage gets passed to our clients.
