Summary Description:
Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance work across retail stores and facility locations. This position supports day-to-day building operations by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, doors, fixtures, equipment, and general facility systems. Maintenance Technician II is expected to work with minimal supervision, respond to work orders in a timely manner, communicate clearly with store leadership and supervisors, and help ensure each location remains safe, functional, clean, and ready for business operations.

Exemplary Duties / Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance & Repairs
路 Perform general building repairs including drywall, painting, flooring, ceiling tile replacement, door hardware, locks, shelving, fixtures, and furniture repairs.
路 Ability to take the lead on more complex, by a course of action, including scope, plan, and execution.
路 Required to train and mentor technicians.
路 Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing issues such as leaks, clogged drains, faucets, toilets, flush valves, supply lines, and drain assemblies.
路 Perform basic electrical repairs including lighting, switches, outlets, ballasts/drivers, breakers, sensors, and other low-risk electrical components within skill level.
路 Repair and maintain retail equipment, donation equipment, carts, compactors, balers, roll-up doors, and other store-related systems as assigned.
路 Respond to urgent facility issues that may impact on safety, customer experience, or store operations.
Preventative Maintenance
路 Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and inspect lighting, restrooms, plumbing, doors, emergency lighting, parking lots, and general facility areas.
路 Identify developing repair and safety concerns early; document findings with clear notes and pictures and initiate or report corrective action to help prevent emergency repairs.
Work Orders & Documentation
路 Complete assigned work orders accurately and on time; document work performed, parts used, current status, next steps, and required before-and-after pictures.
路 Communicate when work is pending parts, vendor support, approval, or follow-up, and maintain organized records of completed work, materials, and equipment condition.
Customer Service & Communication
路 Communicate professionally with store managers, team members, vendors, and leadership, providing timely updates on repair schedules, safety concerns, and completion status.
路 Represent the Facilities Department professionally and respectfully; ask questions when direction is unclear and escalate issues when appropriate.
路 Performs all related work as required.
Safety & Compliance
路 Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, ladder safety, PPE requirements, and vehicle safety rules.
路 Identify unsafe conditions and take action to correct or report them.
路 Maintain clean and safe work areas while performing repairs.
路 Use tools and equipment properly and safely.
Vendor & Team Support
路 Assist with vendor access, job walks, project support, and repair coordination as needed.
路 Support special projects, moves, setups, demos, remodels, and event support.
路 Assist with parts pickup, material ordering, and inventory control when assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
路 Standing and walking for up to 7 hours. Some sitting may vary.
路 Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
路 Climbing, balancing, bending, and twisting required.
路 Finger and manual dexterity required.
路 Work inside and outside required.
路 Work along and with others required.
路 Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
路 Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
路 2-4 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, retail maintenance, or related trade.
路 Certification in at least one skilled trade
路 Working knowledge of general plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and repair practices.
路 Ability to troubleshoot common facility issues with limited supervision.
路 Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters, and basic diagnostic equipment safely.
路 Valid driver鈥檚 license and ability to travel between retail locations.
路 Ability to work independently and manage multiple work orders throughout the day.
路 Basic computer or mobile device skills for updating tickets, uploading photos, and communicating status.
路 High School Diploma or equivalent.
路 Minimum three years working experience or schooling in related field.
路 Able to stand and walk up to 7 hours per day.
路 Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

License/Certifications:
路 Valid CA Driver鈥檚 License: clean DMV printout and be insurable to drive company vehicles.

Desirable Qualifications:
路 EPA 608 certification or willingness to obtain.
路 Experience working in retail, commercial, nonprofit, or multi-site facilities.
路 Experience coordinating with vendors.
路 Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification is a plus.
路 Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
