OBJECTIVE/SUMMARY:


The Payroll Manager will work directly with the Vice President, Accounting and Finance on end-to-end payroll, including payroll processing and appropriate handling of deductions, benefits, taxes. This role is a bridge to the human resources, benefits, accounting, finance, and operations teams. The Payroll Manager oversees all aspects of payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant weekly and bi-weekly payments, tax withholdings, and benefits deductions. Key duties include managing staff, enforcing tax laws and regulations, payroll software updates, and auditing records. They require strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in payroll systems (Dayforce).


RESPONSIBILITIES/GOALS: 


•    Payroll Processing: Manage the entire multi-jurisdictional payroll cycle weekly and bi-weekly payroll, including California, Federal, Jones Act, and Prevailing Wage for both hourly and salaried employees. Manage employment termination procedures 
•    Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax reporting and wage-and-hour laws, as well as company policies and procedures. 
•    System Administration: Manage and updates payroll systems/HRIS to ensure efficiency; ensure system integrations run smoothly and are error-free, 
•    Auditing and Reporting: Perform audits of payroll systems, prepare reports for senior management and audit partners, and resolve complex discrepancies. 
•    Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions and employee data, ensuring the company is always audit-ready.


TASKS AND DUTIES:


•    Project set-up and reporting, including certified payroll reporting
•    End-to-end payroll processing, including hourly timesheet approval by employee and manager
•    Track employee headcount and turnover information as needed
•    Maintain good relationships with employees and departments, provide excellent customer service to all CMC stakeholders 
•    Complete federal, state, and local jurisdiction set up and reporting 
•    Complete Verifications of Employment 
•    Track and submit payroll garnishments 


QUALIFICATIONS AND APTITUDES REQUIRED: 


Certifications and Other Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline preferred
•    5+ years progressive leadership in payroll, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
•    Dayforce HCM experience a must
