About the Role:
Freckles and Friends Pet Clinic in Long Beach, CA is looking for a passionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our caring team! Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, procedures, and treatments
- Restrain and handle animals safely and compassionately during appointments
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain a clean, sanitary clinical environment
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Collect and process laboratory samples including blood draws, urinalysis, and cultures
- Communicate with pet owners regarding care instructions, appointments, and follow-ups
- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories in practice management software
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a veterinary assistant, kennel technician, or in an animal care setting preferred
- Genuine love for animals and ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong communication skills and a client-friendly, compassionate demeanor
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and multitask effectively
- Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology, common medications, and clinical procedures
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary assistant certification a plus
