Yard Hostler - Night Shift

Hight Electric specializes in port drayage – servicing California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah through the ports of Long Beach, Los Angeles and Oakland, specializing in environmental sustainability with electric trucks. We are looking for a team-oriented Yard Hostler - to add to our NIGHT shift crew

Job Summary: The Yard Hostler is responsible for moving trailers in and out of specific locations using a yard goat.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Move containers and chassis to ensure proper and safe access
• Assist drivers with containers they are not able access with their trucks
• Assist warehouse with containers they need moved from or to the dock
• Working hand in hand with mechanic to bring equipment that needs repair or BIT inspections
• Ensuring trash cans are properly emptied into the big trash Bin.
• Ensuring that we use the magnet roller to pick up metal that might puncture/damage tires.
• Ensure cleanliness of the yard is maintained
  • No oil, tire, mechanical dumping in the yard
• Report any unsafe act or conduct in the yard to Nelson.
  • Dragging containers
  • Stealing light/equipment
  • Damaging property of other
  • Unsafe driving in the yard
• Report any repairs that the Yard truck might need ASAP.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Good organizational skills
• Class A drivers license (preferred)

Education and Experience:

• Preferred experience

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Must be able to constant movement going up and down from the Yard truck
