Position Description:
The Manufacturing Production Technician is responsible for assembling products safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established work instructions and quality standards. This role focuses on mechanical assembly utilizing basic hand tools, tooling, molds, complex machines, shop instructions, assembly drawings, and tooling drawings.
Individuals in this position are expected to follow standard work, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and contribute to consistent, high-quality output.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble products and subassemblies using basic hand and/or power tools, tooling, molds, and complex machines according to assembly drawings and work instructions
- Operate injection molding press
- Operate heating and cooling machinesÂ
- Operate sandblasters
- Cut specific lengths of various types of cable and perform strip backs that may include the removal of jacketing, armor, semi-conductor, lead, rubber or plastic sheathing, cardboard, plastic, or rubber filler, and insulation
- Proper use, safety protocols, and storage of chemicals that pertain to the specific department
- Identify and report any issues with parts, tools, molds, machines, or instructions to the Manufacturing Production Supervisors
- Read and follow assembly drawings, bill of materials, production travelers that contain shop instructions for production
- Accurately complete production documentation and maintain required recordsÂ
- Perform basic quality checks to ensure parts are assembled correctly and meet visual and functional requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all safety procedures and participate in daily safety meetings
- Support team members and assist in other production tasks as needed
Qualification Requirements:
- Good attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to read and follow mechanical instructions/drawings
- Manufacturing environment experience
- Able to stand for long periods of times
- May frequently be required to lift and/or move items above 50lbs.
- May need to use a respirator, dust mask, face shield, or earplugs when performing certain tasks
- Will be required to clean work areas daily before shift ends
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Exposure to high heat
- May require occasional overtime (starting early, staying late, working weekends)
Preferred Experience:
- 1-2 years’ prior manufacturing experience
