Job Summary


We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Maintenance Assistant to help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will assist with the daily operation, repair, and preventive maintenance of the facility while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.


Responsibilities


- Assist with preventive maintenance throughout the facility.

- Perform minor repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and drywall.

- Respond promptly to maintenance work orders.

- Inspect resident rooms and common areas for safety hazards.

- Maintain HVAC equipment, lighting, doors, locks, and plumbing fixtures.

- Help maintain the grounds, parking areas, and exterior of the building.

- Move furniture and equipment as needed.

- Assist with emergency repairs and after-hours maintenance when necessary.

- Perform routine inspections and document completed work.

- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Life Safety Code (NFPA), Title 22, and facility policies.

- Maintain tools, equipment, and an organized maintenance shop.

- Support emergency preparedness, fire drills, and life safety inspections.

- Work closely with all departments to ensure resident comfort and safety.

- Assist other departments as needed during staffing shortages or operational needs. Duties may include non-clinical support tasks outside the Maintenance Department.


Qualifications


- High school diploma or GED preferred.

- Previous maintenance experience in a healthcare, skilled nursing, or long-term care facility is preferred.

- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, and general building maintenance.

- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.

- Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

- Must have open availability, including weekends, holidays, and the ability to work different shifts as needed.
