Responsibilities/Qualifications
The Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maturing the organization’s business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities to ensure resilience of critical systems, applications, and business functions. This role leads continuity planning, facilitates enterprise-wide exercises, oversees governance cycles, and guides teams through recovery readiness and execution. Acting as a central liaison across Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Application, Security, NOC, and Business teams, the BC/DR Manager ensures continuity and recovery plans are accurate, tested, and aligned with customer, regulatory, and service-level expectations. The role also acts as a subject-matter expert during incidents and supports leadership through actionable reporting and continuous improvement recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning
- Build, develop, and maintain enterprise BC/DR plans that align with RTO/RPO expectations, customer SLAs, and regulatory standards.
- Partner with technical teams to ensure business impact and dependency mapping across infrastructure, applications, and vendor relationships is maintained.
- Recommend and implement resiliency improvements based on testing outcomes, incident learnings, and emerging risks.
- Align BC/DR planning with organizational risk management, compliance requirements, and technology strategies.
- Partner with technical leaders to ensure plans are actionable, technically sound, and operationally realistic.

Testing and Exercises
- Design, facilitate, and monitor tabletop exercises, functional recovery tests, and enterprise simulations.
- Validate recoverability with Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Application, SRE, and Security teams and ensure remediation activities are documented and completed.
- Establish standardized testing methodologies and maintain annual exercise schedules.
- Evaluate outcomes, identify systemic gaps, and implement scalable improvements to testing programs.
- Track and report recovery performance against RTO/RPO metrics to leadership.
- Track maturity metrics such as test success rate, recovery validation, and plan coverage.

Governance and Compliance
- Lead BC/DR governance cycles including quarterly reviews, attestation processes, remediation follow-ups, and program audits.
- Ensure documentation meets internal standards and supports audit, regulatory assessments (e.g. SOC, ISO, CJIS), and customer due diligence.
- Maintain a centralized repository of plans, evidence, diagrams, and test artifacts.
- Provide structured reporting to leadership on readiness levels, risk exposure, and program maturity.
- Ensure that BC/DR activities align with organizational policies and global continuity frameworks.
Incident and Event Response
- Serve as the BC/DR subject-matter expert during major incidents, outages, or business disruptions.
- Ensure recovery actions follow documented continuity and recovery priorities and are aligned with severity and customer impact.
- Support decision-making with clear analysis of dependencies, recovery sequencing, and readiness status.
- Participate in post-incident reviews, providing recommendations for both tactical corrections and systemic improvements.
- Ensure lessons learned are integrated into updated continuity and recovery plans.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Communication
- Act as the coordination point across Technology, Operations, Security, NOC, Business Units, and third‑party partners.
- Ensure clear accountability for recovery tasks across all participating groups.
- Produce executive‑ready summaries, dashboards, readiness briefings, risk, gaps, and improvement progress.
- Track and communicate BC/DR maturity metrics, including exercise performance, plan currency, risk status, and remediation progress.
- Influence stakeholders without direct authority to drive resiliency, best practices, and program adherence.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Risk Management, Business Continuity, Cybersecurity, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
- Certifications such as CBCP, ISO 22301, ITIL, or similar (preferred, not required).

Experience:Â Â Â Â
- 5-7 years of experience in Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, IT Operations, Incident Management, or Resiliency program roles.
- Experience building or developing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery programs from scratch preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of BC/DR frameworks, risk assessment, dependency mapping, and RTO/RPO architecture.
- Strong capability to manage cross-functional initiatives in complex, distributed technical environments.
- Expertise in designing and facilitating continuity and disaster recovery exercises.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and documentation skills with an audit‑ready mindset.
- Proven ability to interpret technical information and convert findings into strategic recommendations.
- High proficiency in communicating to senior leadership, including executive‑level reporting.
- Ability to remain calm, structured, and decisive under high-pressure incident conditions.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC, ISO 22301, FedRAMP, CJIS, or similar.
- Strong relationship‑building and influence skills across technical and business teams.
- Experience in life-critical, regulated, or 24x7 environments (public safety, healthcare, finance, telecom) preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud and hybrid architectures (AWS, Azure, on-prem).

- May be required to travel up to 10% of the time dependent on customer and business needs.

The starting salary is anticipated between $95,000 and $130,000 and will be commensurate with experience. Â
