ABOUT THE ROLE

Advanced Thin Films (ATF) develops and manufactures high-performance optical components for advanced laser applications. The Process Engineering Manager leads a team responsible for the development, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes across multiple optical manufacturing value streams (Lasercom, HEL, and Core), each with distinct process requirements and operational demands.

This role is accountable for process performance across yield, cost, quality, delivery, and safety, and serves as a key interface between Operations, NPI, Quality, Technology & Innovation, and Continuous Improvement. As a member of the site leadership team, this role ensures strong process control, drives continuous improvement, and aligns manufacturing execution with business objectives. This role plays a key part in strengthening process consistency and building more scalable, repeatable manufacturing systems.

This role requires a balance of hands-on problem solving and longer-term process improvement and strategy. The environment is fast-paced and evolving, requiring adaptability, prioritization, and the ability to navigate changing business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Ownership & Manufacturing Excellence

  • Own manufacturing process performance across the Lasercom, HEL, and Core value streams, ensuring stability, capability, yield, and throughput
  • Establish and maintain process control strategies, including standard work, control plans, and documentation
  • Ensure processes are safe, repeatable, and scalable to meet production demand
  • Drive standardization of methods, equipment, and best practices across processes and shifts

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Establish goals and priorities aligned with site KPIs and operational objectives, ensuring team output supports business results
  • Provide technical mentorship and build depth across optical coating, fabrication, and assembly disciplines
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop talent to support current operations and future growth
  • Drive cross-training to eliminate single points of failure and strengthen bench capability
  • Address performance gaps through consistent feedback and performance management

Production Support & Issue Resolution

  • Lead resolution of production issues impacting safety, quality, and delivery
  • Ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented with sustainable, repeatable solutions
  • Proactively identify and eliminate process bottlenecks and recurring constraints
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for manufacturing process issues

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety standards, quality requirements, and applicable defense regulations
  • Drive a strong safety culture and enforce adherence to established procedures
  • Lead investigations into nonconformances and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Oversee RMA-related process analysis and drive resolution of systemic issues

Process Development & Optimization

  • Partner with NPI to ensure a clear and effective transition of new products into manufacturing, with defined ownership, readiness criteria, and long-term process accountability within the Process Engineering team
  • Lead process development and improvement initiatives to improve yield, cost, quality, and delivery performance
  • Apply statistical analysis, DOE, and data-driven methods to reduce variation and improve capability
  • Partner with Technology & Innovation to industrialize new processes and technologies

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, NPI Engineering, CI, and Support Services to achieve site objectives
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Maintenance on equipment readiness, tooling, and vendor performance
