Maxar Intelligence is currently seeking aĀ Mission DirectorĀ in our Mission Operations CenterĀ to join our team inĀ Longmont, CO.  

  

Your Project: In this role, you will be responsible managing the operational mission and personnel of a Mission Operations crew.Ā You will preserve theĀ spacecraft and ground systems,Ā ensure existing and potential satellite tasking requirements are met, generateĀ revenue in the form of imagery and ancillary data, andĀ ensure cloud cover assessment and product production are completed for Maxar Intelligence's internal and external customers and meet Service Level Agreements.Ā

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):  

  • ManageĀ anĀ integrated groundĀ /Ā flight operations, planning and production shift team ofĀ eightĀ or more operators and engineersĀ inĀ supportĀ ofĀ Maxar Intelligence satellite constellation and ground infrastructure along with other support teams as directed by management.Ā 

  • Responsible for mission success and systems performance necessary to meet customer requirements in a 24/7 environment.Ā 

  • Draft, validate,Ā support and enforce operational procedures and completion of required trainings.Ā 

  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness of allĀ missionĀ planning andĀ operations activities within theĀ Mission Operations Center (MOC).Ā 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with various spacecraft support teams such asĀ spacecraftĀ andĀ operations engineering, management, training, production, IT, and planning teams.Ā 

  • Daily coordination withĀ MaxarĀ operationsĀ and engineeringĀ leadership andĀ regionalĀ collectionĀ planning teams.Ā 

  • Provide effective communication with team members, cross-departmental staff and leaders regarding operational status, mission milestones, and incident management of business impacts and resolution.Ā 

  • As a designatedĀ incidentĀ commander,Ā focus on an anomaly from prioritization to recovery by managing resources, communicating to stakeholders and leadership and by adhering to the Incident ManagementĀ policy.Ā 

  • Communicate withĀ external customers regarding operational capabilities to include mission impacting anomalies, planned and unplanned maintenance activities, the impacts of the activities, and the mitigations in place to minimize the impacts.Ā 

  • Interview, train, evaluate, coach, support career development and corrective actions and preventative solutions for team members.Ā

Minimum requirements for this position:  

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a current/active Secret security clearanceĀ with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/poly

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degreeĀ 

  • Minimum of 5 yearsĀ ofĀ experience inĀ Operations ManagementĀ or Technical Project ManagementĀ 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshootingĀ technicalĀ issuesĀ 

  • Ability to accommodate 24/7 rotational shift work and support outside of regular shifts as requiredĀ

These skills would be amazing:  

  • 5+ years of leadership experienceĀ Ā Ā 

  • Experience with aerospace and/or satellite ground systemsĀ 

  • Troubleshooting experience for AWS-based systemsĀ 

  • Ability to engage with crew members and adjacent teamsĀ 

  • Must possess/demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skillsĀ 

  • Calm disposition in stressful situationsĀ 

  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux environmentsĀ 

  • Ability to support time-sensitive requirementsĀ 

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environmentĀ Ā 

  • Ability to multi-task, results driven, strong sense of ownership and urgencyĀ

ā— The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $93,000.00 - $154,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
