Irrigation Manager

PureGreen is looking for an experienced and driven Irrigation Manager to lead our Irrigation Division. This role is responsible for the people, performance, customer relationships, and overall execution of irrigation operations while ensuring services are completed safely, efficiently, and to PureGreen quality standards. ROLE SUMMARY
The Irrigation Manager is responsible for leading the Irrigation Division and overseeing its day-to-day operations, team performance, customer relationships, scheduling, estimating, and financial performance.
This position manages and develops Irrigation Technicians while working closely with clients, Operations, and Branch Management to ensure projects and service work are completed safely, efficiently, and to PureGreen standards.
The Irrigation Manager also plays an active role in developing proposals and estimates, managing budgets and forecasts, identifying growth opportunities, and improving the division’s sales, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Development
• Manage, coach, and develop Irrigation Technicians
• Support hiring and staffing needs within the Irrigation Division
• Ensure technicians receive appropriate training and are prepared to work independently
• Provide continued education, field coaching, and technical development for team members
• Monitor technician productivity, workmanship, safety, and overall performance
• Maintain a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and professional development
Irrigation Operations & Technical Oversight
• Oversee daily irrigation service and project operations
• Conduct irrigation system inspections and ensure proper system coverage and performance
• Troubleshoot conventional and 2-wire irrigation systems
• Diagnose controller, sensor, valve, solenoid, electrical, mainline, and lateral-line issues
• Oversee and support PVC pipe, valve, head, nozzle, and other irrigation repairs
• Ensure irrigation work is completed accurately, efficiently, and to PureGreen quality standards
• Conduct regular job site inspections to monitor production, quality control, and safety
Scheduling & Project Coordination
• Schedule irrigation projects and service work based on customer needs, staffing, and operational priorities
• Coordinate subcontractors when required
• Order materials and coordinate equipment and job-site deliveries
• Assign resources and equipment to ensure crews and technicians are prepared for scheduled work
• Communicate with clients and job-site personnel throughout projects
• Work closely with Operations and Branch Management to ensure seamless project execution
Estimating, Budgeting & Growth
• Meet with prospective and existing clients to evaluate irrigation needs and opportunities
• Generate take-offs, bids, proposals, and cost estimates
• Develop and manage divisional budgets and financial forecasts
• Monitor job costs, production efficiency, and profitability
• Identify opportunities to increase irrigation sales, profitability, and market share
• Support the continued growth and development of the Irrigation Division
Client Relationships & Service
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with developers, HOA boards, property management companies, facility managers, and other commercial clients
• Serve as a knowledgeable irrigation resource for customers and internal teams
• Address customer concerns promptly and professionally
• Provide recommendations regarding irrigation system operation, maintenance, repairs, and improvements
• Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and long-term client retention
Documentation & Communication
• Ensure irrigation work is thoroughly documented, including work performed and materials or parts used
• Maintain clear communication with technicians, clients, Operations, and Branch Management
• Utilize company systems and software to maintain accurate operational and customer information
• Communicate project status, operational concerns, staffing needs, and opportunities to leadership
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Proven experience in irrigation management, preferably within the commercial landscape industry
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial irrigation systems, including conventional and 2-wire systems
• Knowledge of irrigation controllers, valves, electrical troubleshooting, piping, heads, nozzles, and system design
• Strong understanding of plant and turf requirements and commercial landscape practices
• Previous experience leading and developing irrigation technicians or field teams
• Experience with estimating, take-offs, proposals, scheduling, and project coordination
• Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing field and customer needs
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant CRM or management software
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Industry-specific irrigation certifications are preferred but not required
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred but not required
