Sales & Field Operations Specialist - Longview, TX

The Sales and Field Operations Specialist provides technical, product, and sales support to current and new customers to facilitate sales growth.


Essential Functions

  • Expand the sales and use of VSP products through the identification of sealing needs and cost savings opportunities for customers.
  • Coordinate with Sealing Specialist and the Regional Sales Manager to provide customer support within all VSP industries, including, but not limited to, Industrial and Transportation markets.
  • Provide direct support to VSP personnel, including Sealing Specialists, Product & Application Engineers, Business Unit Directors, Support Services, and Operations Support Specialists and/or Branch Managers.
  • Prepare and present on-site or virtual training classes to customers.
  • Discover opportunities to provide sealing solutions and document cost savings through training classes, walk and talks, problem-solving, etc.
  • Be on-site at customer location and available daily.
  • Conduct on-site storeroom surveys at customer locations.
  • Be able to receive product and process orders through MAS.
  • Maintain existing agreements, handle VMI counts, process required paperwork, and maintain VSP Inventory as required.
  • Work closely with customer receiving department to clear up any Issues with Incoming orders in a timely manner.
  • Help plant engineers anticipate needs by getting them to think about and plan how to minimize downtime as well as to be more efficient during scheduled shutdowns.
  • Become the customer's fluid sealing trusted advisor by answering questions such as torque calculations and gasket recommendations for the staff of the plant and third-party contractors.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and RSL to develop customer reference documents, including visual aids, such as gasket boards and pocket cards.
  • Be the liaison between Eastman, VSP Inside sales, and Manufacturer when any emergency need arises.
  • Work closely with corporate administration and operations management to meet and exceed the customer’s service expectations.
  • Establish a relationship with non-customers through referrals from existing customers.
  • Identify key influencers on the plant's/corporate engineering team and establish trust and rapport through expert field knowledge ensuring that your customer understands all that VSP has to offer.
  • Salesforce Utilization: Meeting Logs, Opportunity Updates, Etc.
  • Project a favorable image of the company to promote, foster, and enhance public recognition of the company and its products and services.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Adheres to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures as outlined in the VSP Health & Safety Manual. Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace in alignment with VSP standards.
  • Prospecting for new customers and new opportunities within existing customers.
  • Provide training to your customers.
  • Be a resource for your plants’ engineering team.
  • Identify and propose sealing solutions.
  • Document the cost impact of your work/solutions for the plants.
  • Manage the contract.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.
  • Project a favorable image of the company to promote, foster, and enhance public recognition of the company and its products and services.
  • Adheres to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures as outlined in the VSP Health & Safety Manual. Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace in alignment with VSP standards.


Experience / Education

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience and/or training related to job functions
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) proficiency
  • Working knowledge of MAS500 
  • Customer service experience in manufacturing and/or sales (Preferred)


Must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and their own dependable transportation.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Travel: Overnight travel is expected when attending manufacturer training courses, supporting customers, and surveying.
