General Purpose

Part Time

The Behavior Support Assistant is responsible to the County Superintendent and works under the direct supervision of the designated manager(s). A Behavior Support Assistant gathers and charts data related to student behavior and models behavior intervention strategies, and assists classroom staff and instructional support staff in the implementation of individual student's Behavior Support Plans (BSP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies. Provides support to assist teaching staff with instructing and assisting students having communicative or physical disabilities. Performs a variety of general classroom assistance duties.

Requirements / Qualifications

Application packets must contain the following to be considered complete:

-Proof of High school diploma or equivalent

-Proof of current Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Certificate (if you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six (6) months of employment)

-Proof of CPR/First Aid Certification (if you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within 30 days of employment)

Pursuant to current Ed. Code 45330, this position requires one of the following to qualify for the position:

1. Completion of 60 Semester Units (2 years of study) at an institution of higher education

2. Possession of an Associate's Degree or Higher

3. Passing of a local assessment in Reading/Writing and Mathematics (which will be conducted on the day of the interview)

a. Math knowledge will consist of basic fractions, percentages, word problems, etc.. (equal to that of a high school student requirement)

b. Reading/Writing will consist of comprehension, proper language, etc (equal to that of a high school student requirement)

Applicants may be tested.

If hired, must provide proof of a valid California driver’s license.
