M&M Industries is a U.S.-based manufacturer of plastic pails and packaging solutions. We operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where production accuracy, material flow, and on-time delivery are critical to meeting customer expectations.
The Production Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within and between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules. This role supports safe and efficient operations by reviewing production and shipment schedules, monitoring inventory levels, collaborating with department supervisors, and resolving production-related issues to ensure customer requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow M&M safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
- Support the manufacturing team to ensure daily production requirements are achieved and customer expectations are met
- Drive performance related to On-Time/In-Full (OTIF) KPI, with accountability included in performance reviews
- Provide expected completion dates for incoming orders with the goal of meeting customer requested dates
- Analyze and prepare production-related documentation
- Monitor material supply flow and identify shortages or bottlenecks
- Create production schedules and prioritize job orders to optimize production efficiency
- Maintain production schedules and required reports
- Follow up with cross-functional teams to expedite material and document flow to meet schedule and customer expectations
- Complete status reports related to production progress, work-in-process (WIP), and raw material inventory
- Interact daily with shop floor management to resolve manufacturing efficiency issues and respond to requests from Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Accounting
- Ensure work orders are released in ShotScope to provide visibility for planning and purchasing requirements
- Ensure special notes are included on work orders to prevent customer service misses
- Assist in reviewing the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform other duties as assigned, including tasks requiring higher or lower levels of proficiency
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, both internal and external
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Ability to work within production tracking programs (e.g., ShotScope/RJG platforms)
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- College degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required
- One (1) year of experience with MRP systems preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include hot or cold conditions
- Ability to wear required PPE at all times (safety glasses, etc.)
- Duties may require occasional lifting, extended standing, and walking
