Overview
Summary:
The Shop Manager provides technical assistance to the technicians and assists in customer inquiries to assure properfunctionality and perform repair procedures as required. This candidate will provide support and knowledge to employeesinquiring about job duties and responsibilities as well as assist with the rebuild of equipment when needed. Responsible for all shop desk duties and obligations, maintain and provide a safe and inclusive work environment to all employees. Have a customer service frame of mind especially when it pertains to our customers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct the repair process to achieve repair quality standards, consistent priorities, and high productivity
- Oversee the scheduling of truck rebuilds
- Answer questions and advise mechanics on rebuild/repair procedures and proper methods of maintenance
- Conduct hands-on troubleshooting and repair of equipment using both mechanical and electrical procedures
- Properly read and use mechanical and electrical schematics (where applicable) to complete repairs
- Maintain employee performance reviews and suggested merit increases
- Implement progressive discipline and enforce company policies
- Establish long-term and short-term goals to ensure the shop is successful
- Identify, establish, and monitor financial performance goals for the shop including labor parts, paint & materials, and sublet
- Control overhead expenses and assist in the management of receivables
- Set standards and develop action plans to facilitate the improvement of business performance and standards for quality, customer service and satisfaction, promotional efforts, and employee satisfaction and retention
- Continually improve the skill level of all personnel by facilitating training opportunities and on-the-job skills enhancement
- Quality inspection of the Rebuild final product to verify that repairs have been done properly
- Handle other requests from management on a timely basis
Global Responsibilities:
- Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
- This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meetbusiness needs
Qualifications:
Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience:
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years related technical experience and/or training for mechanical and/or electrical equipment orequivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Abilities:
- Highly disciplined and well organized
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Create an atmosphere of constant improvement
- Ability to work independently
- Must have a valid Driver’s license with good driving record
Working Conditions:
- Operation within a profession shop environment and out in the field
- Subject to loud noise levels in some manufacturing facilities
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must be able to stand and move about job sites with uneven and unpaved ground.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment
- Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary
- Lift/Carry up to 55 pounds frequently
- Lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
