Registered Dental Hygienist Job Overview

The RDH is responsible for providing preventative dental care, educating patients on oral health, and supporting the dentist in delivering high-quality care. This position plays a critical role in promoting optimal oral hygiene and ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction.


Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dental prophylaxis (cleanings), scaling, root planing, and periodontal maintenance.
  • Take and process dental X-rays (digital or traditional).
  • Conduct oral cancer screenings and evaluate patients for signs of oral diseases.
  • Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive materials.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care techniques.
  • Review and document medical and dental histories.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and charting in compliance with dental practice standards.
  • Sterilize instruments and ensure operatory cleanliness between patients.
  • Assist the dentist during examinations when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA standards.

Registered Dental Hygienist Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • State-registered Dental Hygienist

Registered Dental Hygienist Experience

  • At least 1 year
