Project Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico with hybrid flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Serve as acting Project Engineer, leading and managing engineering scope and execution.

• Support fabrication and procurement efforts, including design and construction of PIT-related equipment.

• Oversee renovation and fabrication of specialized equipment supporting nuclear mission objectives.

• Coordinate with procurement engineers, vendors, and technical experts to ensure successful project delivery.

• Manage project scope, schedule, and engineering deliverables across a multi-phase program.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with mission requirements.

• Participate in vendor visits and inspections as needed (short-term travel).

• Support ongoing mission needs, including occasional overtime.

Requirements

• Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.

• Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

• Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

About the Site

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
