Job DetailsJob Location: Los Alamos, NM 87545We are seeking an experienced Technical Editor to support the development, review, and maintenance of Safety Basis documentation for nuclear and high hazard facilities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring Safety Basis documents are clear, consistent, compliant, and ready for both internal and external review. The Technical Editor will collaborate closely with engineers, nuclear safety analysts, and subject matter experts to edit and refine complex technical documentation while preserving technical intent. Key Responsibilities Edit, format, and quality check Safety Basis documentation including: Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs) Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs) Hazard Analyses and supporting calculations Safety Evaluation Reports Change packages and supporting documentation Ensure compliance with applicable DOE Orders, federal regulations, and site specific requirements, including DOE O 420.1 and 10 CFR 830 Improve clarity, organization, and consistency of highly technical material without altering technical meaning Apply and enforce document standards, templates, style guides, and configuration management requirements Coordinate with authors, engineers, and nuclear safety analysts to resolve comments and improve overall document quality Support internal reviews, audits, and readiness activities by preparing documentation for approval and formal submittal Track revisions, manage comment resolution, and maintain strict version control QualificationsRequired Qualifications Demonstrated experience editing complex technical or regulatory documentation Strong command of grammar, technical writing style, and document structure Experience working with subject matter experts in highly regulated environments Proficiency in Microsoft Word and document control tools Ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines simultaneously Exceptional attention to detail Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to quickly learn and understand complex technical subject matter Preferred Qualifications Experience editing DOE Safety Basis documentation, including DSA, TSR, and USQ related documentation Familiarity with configuration management and formal document review processes Active DOE clearance or ability to obtain one Education and Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, Physical Science, Social Science, or related field Typically requires 6 to 8 years of relevant experience
