Job DetailsJob Location: Percy Village - Los Angeles, CA 90023Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $33.91 - $35.28 Hourly Title of Position: AOT Therapist Location: Percy Village Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Union/ Non-Union: Union Supervisor: Program Director  Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.  SUMMARY OF POSITION Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, a non-profit entity, is an experienced provider that operates Percy Village, a state-licensed residential facility for up to 136 adults with mental disabilities, ages 18-59, located in Boyle Heights. The program offers a structured residence and Outpatient Clinic with intensive mental health supportive services to prepare and empower clients to develop independent skills and improve current levels of functioning in order to successfully re-integrate back into community living. The responsibilities of the AOT Therapist include providing psychosocial assessments, individual/group psychotherapy, mental health rehabilitative services, and case management services to an adult residential population.  ESSENTIALS DUTIES Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical charts with appropriate and timely completion of all required documentation, including but not limited to, assessments, progress notes, treatment and discharge plans. Provides full services to an assigned caseload, including individual, group, couples, family psychotherapy, case management, crisis intervention. Meets all contracted monthly service requirements. Implements and is responsible for the treatment planning needs of assigned client caseload. Makes and implements client disciplinary recommendations as needed. Provides on-call coverage for emergency consultation and intervention outside of regular work hours.  Completes Social Security applications Assists clients to obtain MTA bus passes, CAID and other documents as needed. Keeps supervisor informed about clients’ Social Security application status. Completes MediCal/Medicare applications as needed Participates in assigned program, treatment planning, and in-service training meetings as scheduled.  Productively participates in weekly individual and group supervision. Maintains and improves clinical skills, through supervision, training seminars and classes.  Follows supervisor’s directives. Maintains an objective and professional relationship with clients at all times. Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary treatment team, including timely and effective communications.  Effectively presents clinical case material as needed.  Communicates effectively with clients as well as their family members and significant others. Maintains active and effective liaison with relevant community agencies and initiates collateral contact with family, friends, board and care operators referring agencies and professionals as needed for the client’s continuity of care. Exercises good judgment by objectively analyzing facts, weighing evidence, utilizing clinical skills and reaching sound conclusions. Responds appropriately under difficult or stressful circumstances. Performs other duties as assigned.  ESSENTIAL SKILLS Working knowledge of mental status examinations and current diagnostic manual. Knowledge of psychiatric mental health theories and practices. Individual and group treatment with clients who present a variety of psychopathologies. Ability to function as primary therapist and member of multidisciplinary treatment team. Ability to accurately observe and document treatment sessions. Knowledge and understanding of human relationships. Ability to work and relate effectively with visitors, police, and community members. Ability to accurately assess statements and behaviors of clients for evidence of antisocial behavior. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. QualificationsEDUCATION & CERTIFICATES Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences or related area from an accredited university Valid CA BBS registration  EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS Experience providing individual, group and family therapy to adults Crisis intervention experience Treatment/Discharge planning experience Working knowledge of community resources Experience completing biopsychosocial assessments Bilingual Spanish or ASL preferred  REQUIREMENTS Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance. Valid California Driver’s license. TB clearance.
