Our members work in film, television, commercials, news, sports, and new media.


The Awards & Special Events Department is responsible for the administration of the DGA’s signature events, including the DGA Awards, and supports the Guild’s Special Projects Committee, which provides educational and craft-focused events which celebrate the history and achievements of members, advances their professional skills, and prepares them for the technological changes of the future. The department ensures the successful delivery of programs and events that celebrate directorial achievement, strengthen member engagement, foster industry relationships, and advance the Guild’s mission.


What You’ll Do


The Awards & Special Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of assigned DGA special events including DGA Awards, DGA Student Spotlight Awards, Digital Day, the Directors Guild Foundation Golf Tournament, and DGA Honors in addition to ongoing Special Projects Committee and Council events and activities. Duties include the following administrative responsibilities: vetting submissions, materials preparation, reservations monitoring, attendee communications, program support, logistics, copy-editing, scheduling, cross-departmental collaboration and on-site event management. Additional awards responsibilities and events as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

  • Exercise discretion and good judgment given proximity to members and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills. 
  • Effectively manage multiple projects, timelines, and budgets concurrently.
  • Collaborative, report to and work with multiple managers on various projects.
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Create and execute event Run of Show (ROS) to ensure smooth and efficient event execution.
  • Prepare and verify event setup several hours before the start time.
  • Collaborate as a flexible team player, willingly taking on diverse responsibilities to achieve shared goals.
  • Remain on your feet and active for extended periods, particularly during event setup and execution, including the ability to transport materials—such as printed programs, booklets, and laptops—using a wheeled cart as needed.
  • Remain on-site until all attendees have departed, ensuring the check-in area is thoroughly cleaned and organized after each event.
  • This position will require overtime, including nights and weekends, as necessary to complete essential tasks and staff events.

 

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of relevant event experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
  • Professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud programs
  • Experience hosting Zoom webinars and meetings a plus
  • Love of film & television encouraged 

 

Salary for this role: $52,000
