USC’s Keck School of Medicine, Institute of Urology, is seeking a Clinical Research Data Specialist I to join our Clinical Research Database Unit. This position supports one of the nation's premier urologic oncology research programs by managing high-quality clinical research data that drive scientific discovery, translational research, and improvements in patient care.

Essential job duties include but are not limited:

  • Identify eligible patients for research studies.

  • Screen patients for study eligibility using medical records and research protocols.

  • Obtain informed consent from research participants.

  • Collect and enter clinical research data into study databases.

  • Review electronic medical records to ensure accurate and complete data collection.

  • Maintain research databases and update patient information as needed.

  • Perform routine data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist with patient follow-up and outcomes data collection.

  • Prepare research records and study documentation in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist with biospecimen collection and documentation, when applicable.

  • Work closely with physicians, research staff, and other team members to support ongoing research projects.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, IRB, and institutional research policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1 year of clinical trial experience

  • Must have a strong attention to detail to ensure adherence to study SOPs and compliance with regulatory standards (ICH, GCP, HIPAA, etc)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using REDCap, Microsoft Access, SQL Server, or other clinical research database systems

  • Experience performing medical record abstraction and clinical data collection.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, oncology, or urology.

  • Familiarity with clinical research regulations, IRB processes, GCP, and human subjects research.

  • A cooperative and team-oriented attitude

This position is on-site and employee must report to work at the USC Health Science Campus in Los Angeles, CA when scheduled. Work hours may be subject to change depending on business needs.

The hourly budgeted range for this position is $26.77 - $30.57. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations

Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 6 months
Minimum Field of Expertise: Requires good attention to detail with prior data entry experience. Some knowledge of medical terminology.
