About the Position:

A Driver is responsible to provide transportation for JCOD STOP prospective and current participants upon release from designated Los Angeles County Jails, California State Prisons, assessment locations (TBD), and Community Based Providers (CBPs) as appropriate. The driver is required to be safety and customer service orientated when welcoming JCOD STOP to the community and other destinations at all times.

What You Will Do:
  • Responsible for providing accessible transportation to STOP participants receiving services in the STOP network of Community Based Providers (CBPs) to STOP locations upon release from LA County Jail institutions.
  • Assist in coordination of driving schedules with STOP supervisors and faculty.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are kept clean and presentable.
  • Maintain accurate records of all STOP participant transportation.
  • Maintain transportation authorizations in the designated data management system as needed.
  • May require data entry and/or other administrative tasks as directed by the Data Coordinator.
  • In rare cases may require overnight accommodation when transporting participants from remote locations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


What You Will Bring:
  • Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and be eligible for Amity vehicle insurance.
  • Plus: Knowledge of State of California Laws and Rules of the Road as stated in California Driver Handbook. Two (2) years of experience working with criminal justice involved, substance use disorder (SUD) involved, and/or mental health involved populations.
  • Data entry and computer skills.
  • Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse/mental health challenges; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper attitudes and techniques towards STOP program participants.
  • Ability to work co-operatively with STOP Area Transportation teams.
  • Ability to work constructively with diverse people and with parties that may have divergent perspectives and interests.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Faculty who operate a vehicle for company business must be eligible for and covered under the Company’s automobile insurance policy. Eligibility is subject to verification of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Company policy.
