Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Wilmington, CA 90744Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $90.00 - $117.00 HourlyJob Shift: AnyJob Category: Health CareStatement of Purpose    Under the direct clinical supervision of the Psychiatrist and the administrative supervision of the Health Center Clinic Manager, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and behavioral health services within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment. This position collaborates closely with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, care managers, Community Health Workers (CHWs), and interdisciplinary care teams to support integrated, whole-person care. The PMHNP delivers patient-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults while promoting improved behavioral health outcomes, continuity of care, and organizational goals.    Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities    Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, behavioral health assessments, and diagnostic interviews.  Diagnose and treat mental health, emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders in accordance with accepted clinical standards and scope of practice.  Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams.  Provide psychiatric medication management, prescribing, monitoring, and follow-up care within the scope of licensure and DEA regulations.  Provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services, including assessment, prescribing, monitoring, and ongoing management for patients with substance use disorders within scope of practice.  Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, suicide assessments, safety planning, and stabilization services as appropriate.  Coordinate care with primary care providers, therapists, behavioral health staff, social services, hospitals, specialty providers, and community agencies.  Participate in integrated behavioral health and collaborative care model activities within primary care settings.  Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, wellness strategies, and community resources.  Document patient encounters, assessments, treatment plans, medications, and clinical interventions accurately within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).  Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, Medi-Cal, HRSA, HIPAA, DEA, and organizational policies and procedures.  Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical outcomes tracking, population health activities, and regulatory compliance efforts.  Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, care coordination meetings, utilization review, and peer consultation activities.  Provide consultation and support to clinical staff regarding behavioral health treatment planning and patient management.  Participate in on-call coverage, outreach activities, and community education initiatives as assigned.  Maintain professional licensure, certifications, continuing education, and credentialing requirements.  Participate in safety programs to promote patient and staff safety.   Maintain professional boundaries and standards of conduct.   Treat patients with respect, care, and concern at all times.   Maintain health and safety standards within the facility.   Recognize personal biases and demonstrate cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.   Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in committees as assigned.  Perform other duties as assigned.    Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Competencies and Performance Expectations    Ability to complete the above major tasks, duties, and responsibilities.   Ability to demonstrate professional judgment and decision-making.   Ability to adhere to professional standards.   Demonstrates professional judgment, ethical clinical practice, and adherence to professional standards.  Demonstrates strong psychiatric assessment, psychopharmacology, behavioral health treatment, and integrated care knowledge.  Demonstrates the ability to assess risk, develop safety plans, and respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies.  Demonstrates effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and clinical communication skills.  Demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and community partners.  Demonstrates proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR), telehealth platforms, and healthcare technology systems.  Demonstrates knowledge of Medi-Cal, HRSA/FQHC operations, behavioral health documentation standards, and integrated care models.  Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining patient-centered care.    Prerequisite Qualifications    The following are the qualifications and competencies required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.    Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.    Current, active California Nurse Practitioner license.    Current, active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.    Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required.  Current furnishing number and DEA registration (or ability to obtain upon hire).     Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).     Minimum of two (2) years of psychiatric or behavioral health clinical experience preferred.  Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.     Experience working in a community health center or with underserved populations preferred, with exposure to integrated behavioral health or co-occurring conditions.   Experience in Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, including prescribing and ongoing management, or willingness to obtain training upon hire.     Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including standing, bending, reaching, and lifting as needed to carry out job duties.     Must have valid California driver's license and liability insurance if driving a personal vehicle on BHS business.    QualificationsPrerequisite Qualifications Following are the qualifications and competencies required to perform the essential functions of this position. Routinely lift and move items weighing up to ten pounds and occasionally up to twenty-five pounds; is expected to ask for assistance and use a dolly or cart for any heavy items.
