Help Group is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain the organization’s technology infrastructure in support of mission‑driven programs and operations. This role ensures that systems across hardware, software, networks, cloud services, and emerging technologies are secure, reliable, and scalable. The Lead Systems Engineer provides technical leadership, oversees IT desktop support staff, and drives AI‑related initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, improve data insights, and strengthen service delivery across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, manage, and secure IT infrastructure across on‑premise, network, and cloud environments; oversee system updates, backups, and disaster recovery.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance and availability, resolving outages and technical issues with minimal operational impact.
  • Automate IT operations and workflows using scripting, DevOps, and cloud tools to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Lead IT support operations and staff, setting standards, mentoring team members, and ensuring high‑quality end‑user support and service delivery.
  • Drive responsible AI adoption and innovation, identifying practical AI solutions, ensuring ethical use, training staff, and maintaining documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–6+ years of experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or a related role
  • Experience leading IT support staff or help desk operations preferred
  • Exposure to or experience implementing AI or automation solutions in a business or nonprofit setting preferred
  • Relevant certifications are a plus, such as:
    1. AWS Certified Solutions Architect
    2. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator
    3. Cisco CCNA/CCNP
    4. CompTIA Network+ or Security+
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment, preferred. 
  • Commitment to ethical, equitable, and responsible use of technology, including AI, preferred.
  • Ability to balance infrastructure responsibilities, team leadership, and innovation initiatives, preferred.
  • Experience operating in resource-constrained environments with competing priorities, preferred.
