Job DetailsJob Location: Main Hospital - Los Angeles, CA 90026Salary Range: $22.05 - $25.91 Hourly Title of Position: Maintenance Technician Location: Gateways Hospital - Facilities Management Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Union/ Non-Union: Non-Union Supervisor: Director of Facility Management Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees. SUMMARY OF POSITION The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for building maintenance. Knowledge of regulatory codes and standards. Duties may include/involve plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical, painting and general building upkeep. ESSENTIALS DUTIES Knowledge of regulatory policies and/or codes relating to engineering and environment of care responsibilities Assists Director and/or Supervisor with orientation of new engineering employees and organization wide orientation Maintains operational knowledge of building and safety and security systems Keeps abreast of organizational wide programs which may impact on maintenance work schedules and/or projects Drives to purchase and pick up materials and supplies as needed in a timely manner Completes lock repairs and key duplication as required, including documentation Performs routine building inspections as required or assigned Completes documentation of routine inspections as required by engineering procedures on a timely basis Completes data entry of work orders/requests in a timely manner Gives clear, concise information to supervisor and co-workers on projects and maintenance requests Performs quality repairs, refinishing, modifications to doors, walls, ceilings, windows floors Performs quality repairs to or modifications to electrical systems Performs quality repairs to or modifications to plumbing systems Performs and/or assists in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting problems on HVAC or refrigeration systems Demonstrates ability to operate emergency generator for emergency startup or testing; including generator documentation requirements Understand the basic functions of building/maintenance trades Ability to ascertain information from plumbing, mechanical and electrical blueprints Understand the maintenance requirements for facility equipment Understand the basic elements of the AOA Environment of Care and Life Safety Code standards Other duties as assigned QualificationsEXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS Ability to perform and document routine inspections Ability to perform repairs, maintenance, or modifications to floors, doors, walls and ceilings Ability to perform basic repairs, maintenance, or modifications to electrical and lighting systems Ability to perform repairs, maintenance, or modifications to plumbing systems Ability to operate emergency generator testing and documentation Hospital maintenance experience. General knowledge of basic building and safety codes One (1) - Three (3) years successful experience in Multi-trade building maintenance of commercial buildings Maintenance experience in similar or commercial settings EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES High School Diploma Building Trade technical training through a trade school or college or demonstrable skills in building maintenance REQUIREMENTS Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance. Valid California Driver’s license. TB clearance. Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
