Role Summary

Firecracker Works Inc is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our finance team based in Los Angeles, CA. This role is responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting across our US operations. Working closely with the Group Financial Controller and wider team, you will provide critical insight into business performance through detailed variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, helping drive sound financial decision-making across the business. You will be actively involved in liaising with the production team to track project performances and KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for US operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Post month-end journals including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Produce a monthly reporting pack with written commentary on financial performance

  • Analyse budget versus actual variances and provide clear, actionable insights to management

  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and rolling financial forecasts

  • Ownership in preparation of sales invoices & perform credit control duties

  • Job profitability reporting and lead regular meetings with Production Managers

  • Prepare and submit sales tax returns in compliance with California state requirements

  • Manage cashflow reporting and work with the team to maintain accurate cash projections

  • Liaise with external CPA firms and auditors as required

  • Support the Group Financial Controller with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

  • Identify and act on opportunities to leverage AI tools, reducing manual workload and improving the quality of financial outputs

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements and operational efficiencies

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

  • CPA, CMA or equivalent professional qualification preferred

  • 3–6+ years of experience in management accounting or a similar senior finance role

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards

  • Experience with California state tax obligations, including sales tax compliance

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and experience with Xero accounting software

  • Proven ability to prepare management accounts, variance analysis and financial commentary

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management

  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail

  • Clear communicator who can present financial data confidently to non-finance stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in identifying and implementing AI and automation tools to improve finance processes

  • Proactive mindset towards process innovation, able to evaluate new technologies, build a business case, and drive adoption across the finance team
