mxdwn is looking for Features Writers to join our growing music team. If you are passionate about a wide variety of musical genres, have experience conducting interviews in-person or on the phone, have creative ideas about long-form features, and can consistently meet deadlines then this is a great opportunity for you.

Features Writers will be responsible for researching and reading in preparation for their pieces, proofreading, editing, and generating ideas for future stories and features. These pieces could range from expository features to investigative reporting, and long-form features analyzing a certain subject to comprehensive stories with "on-the-record" quotes from multiple artists or interview subjects. 

This is an unpaid internship. 

Requirements

Features writers will be expected to complete 3-4 articles a month. Your schedule must allow for conducting interviews during business hours (9-5 M-F) as this is when artists are typically available.

Writers must have outstanding command of English language and grammar, superior attention to detail, ability to think creatively, produce error-free copy under deadlines and operate professionally and intelligently when conducting interviews.

Writers must be comfortable conducting video and audio recorded interview via Zoom with the camera on. 

While having experience conducting interviews and writing music-related features is preferred, we also want passionate and eager writers who are knowledgeable and/or willing to learn more about a wide range of genres and artists. Our eclecticism and open-mindedness is something that sets us apart from other online music publications and we are looking for writers who share the same philosophy.
