Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Respiratory Therapist, you will provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders. Your role is vital for improving patient outcomes.

 

Every day, you will assess respiratory status, implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management), and educate patients/families. You'll document interventions and collaborate with physicians and medical staff.

 

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and equipment proficiency. Excellent communication for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration, plus a commitment to safety and continuous development, are essential.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Applies clinical knowledge and expertise for coordinating patient care by regularly planning and evaluating the respiratory care of patients.
  • Demonstrates effective respiratory care judgment and a working knowledge of the respiratory process.
  • Documents and communicates all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate member of the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Coordinates plan of care with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve desired goals and outcomes.

 

 

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Job Requirements

Required: 

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • A minimum of 1 year critical care experience in respiratory critical care experience in respiratory therapy or
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience at a level 2 or greater with competency in neonatal and newborn delivery intubation.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA 
  • AHA Basic Life Support - CPR 
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support 
  • AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program 
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days
