Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Signal Hill, California, Karman Industries is at the forefront of revolutionizing industrial thermal energy. Our mission is to electrify global thermal systems across data centers, manufacturing, and energy industries. Karman is developing the revolutionary Heat Processing Unit (HPU) to reinvent thermal handling for giga-scale data centers & AI factories. The HPU is built around a supercritical CO2 chiller system utilizing a high-speed electrically driven turbomachinery core. Our system aims to reduce energy consumption in data center thermal management by greater than 25% and increase energy density by 10x.

At Karman Industries, we are committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive work environment where innovation thrives. Our team is composed of passionate professionals dedicated to making a tangible impact on the future of industrial manufacturing. Join us in our mission to transform the industry and contribute to a more sustainable world.

NX / Teamcenter Engineer

Karman Industries is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on NX / Teamcenter Engineer to build, harden, and scale the digital backbone of our mechanical design organization. This person will own the company's end-to-end CAD/PLM environment, including the component reuse library, mechanical and electrical routing, structure design tooling, materials data, drawing standards, and day-to-day system administration. As Karman transitions from R&D into high-volume manufacturing, this role will design a scalable, well-governed PLM environment while remaining willing to roll up their sleeves — triaging outages, fixing a broken drawing template, or walking a new hire through Teamcenter directly. You will be hands-on across day-to-day operations while helping the Head of Mechanical Engineering build the case for where additional PLM support is needed as Karman scales.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and administer Karman's Siemens NX / Teamcenter PLM environment — installs, upgrades, license servers, and integrations with downstream systems like our MRP platform.

  • Build and maintain a component reuse library and standardized part families, templates, and role-based configurations so engineers design faster and more consistently.

  • Configure and roll out core NX modules — including routing, structure design, and custom feature standards — as the mechanical design team's needs grow.

  • Establish and enforce CAD and drawing standards, including notes, thread callouts, and materials data.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, acting as the go-to escalation point for critical NX/Teamcenter problems.

  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and infrastructure changes, including supporting the PLM server migration to Karman's new facility.

  • Train and support engineers on NX/Teamcenter, onboard new users, and provide day-to-day admin support as the team scales.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on Siemens NX and Teamcenter administration/configuration experience, ideally in aerospace, defense, or another hardware-intensive engineering environment.

  • Demonstrated experience building or maintaining CAD reuse libraries, part families, templates, and role-based configurations.

  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter architecture (BMIDE, workflow, BOM, and access configuration) and NX/Teamcenter integration.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD/PLM technical documentation.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across CAD, PLM, and underlying Windows/Linux server infrastructure.

  • Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable training and supporting engineers at all levels.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • Experience with NXOpen API, Knowledge Fusion, or similar tools for CAD/PLM automation and customization.

  • Experience with mechanical/electrical routing modules, Structure Designer, or similar NX advanced modules.

  • Experience integrating PLM systems with MRP/ERP platforms (e.g., Manufacturo, SAP, NetSuite).

  • Experience supporting a PLM server migration or new-site IT/engineering systems buildout.

  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance, where applicable to program work.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
