About Boring Stuff
We're a back-office partner for creators and creator-led companies like Airrack, Yes Theory, and The Try Guys. We handle finance, accounting, operations, and HR so our clients can focus on building. We’re a small, serious, and trusted team that gets results without a lot of noise.

The Role
We're hiring an Operations Associate to work directly with the CEO across everything. This is a generalist role at a firm that does it all: client management, financial operations, tax coordination, HR compliance, contracts, and more. You'll be in the middle of it from day one.

You should have a foundation in finance and accounting and know enough to keep books clean and understand what you're looking at. But the job is much bigger than that. We're looking for someone smart, coachable, and hungry who wants to learn how a real back-office firm operates from the inside and take on more over time. This is an early role at a growing company, and the right person will grow with it.

What You’ll Do

  • Own day-to-day operations across multiple client workstreams. Nothing falls through the cracks on your watch
  • Coordinate payroll, reimbursements, and compliance deadlines across clients
  • Chase down missing documents, signatures, and information from clients, vendors, and partners persistently and professionally
  • Support tax prep season: organize records, liaise with CPAs and EAs, draft client-facing communications
  • Help draft and manage contractor agreements, onboarding documents, and HR paperwork
  • Maintain and improve internal systems: Airtable, Notion, Google Drive
  • Write process documentation and help standardize recurring workflows
  • Handle bookkeeping across client entities when needed for reconciliations, categorization, and month-end close
  • Travel occasionally for client work or operational needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • You have a foundation in accounting and finance. You know your way around bookkeeping software and can read a P&L
  • You know how to use Excel/Google Sheets and can troubleshoot formula issues. You can also do this without resorting to asking AI.
  • You're a fast, hungry learner. You pick up new concepts, tools, and client contexts quickly and without hand-holding
  • You're a great problem solver. When something's broken or missing, you go figure it out
  • You're organized and relentless about follow-through. Things don't stall on your end
  • You write clearly and communicate proactively, especially with clients
  • You handle sensitive financial and personal information with complete discretion
  • You're based in LA or willing to relocate
  • You're not here because you want access to creators

How We Work

  • We care about execution, not optics
  • We do not waste time on decks, useless meetings, or vague brainstorms
  • We prioritize clarity, speed, and accountability
  • We work hard, move fast, and respect each other’s time

Perks

  • Direct access to the CEO and exposure to real decision-making
  • Behind-the-scenes access to some of the top YouTubers and creator-led businesses in the world
  • Flexible hours and remote-friendly culture
  • Tons of ownership, variety, and opportunities to learn
  • A high-trust, low-politics environment where speed and results matter
  • A chance to build real operational skills instead of doing busywork
