Painter II

Hydraulics International, Inc. (HII) is seeking experienced Painters II to prepare, prime, and paint a variety of manufactured parts and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of industrial painting experience, preferably within the aerospace, manufacturing, or automotive industry, and will be comfortable working with different paint systems, primers, specifications, and part configurations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, cleaning, wiping with solvents, and performing other required surface preparation.
  • Mask parts and surfaces according to work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Load and unload parts onto and from paint racks.
  • Mix and prepare primers, paints, coatings, and solvents according to manufacturer instructions and job specifications.
  • Verify that proper surface treatment and preparation have been completed before applying primer or paint.
  • Apply primer and paint using spray equipment to a wide variety of parts with different sizes, shapes, and contours.
  • Apply gloss, semi-gloss, flat, and other coating finishes as required.
  • Operate curing ovens and monitor temperature, curing cycles, and processing times.
  • Perform visual inspections of painted parts to verify coverage, finish, appearance, and overall quality.
  • Identify and correct common paint defects, including runs, sags, uneven coverage, overspray, or surface imperfections.
  • Clean and maintain paint guns, spray equipment, paint booths, filters, and other painting equipment.
  • Follow work orders, job travelers, blueprints, engineering drawings, and written work instructions.
  • Handle paints, primers, solvents, and other materials in accordance with safety requirements and manufacturer instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to production, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, safety rules, and Code of Safe Work Practices.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions provided by leads, supervisors, and management.
  • Understand and follow the company's quality management system and applicable procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an industrial paint shop or production painting environment.
  • Aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or automotive painting experience preferred.
  • Experience preparing, mixing, and applying a variety of primers and paints.
  • Experience using spray guns and industrial painting equipment.
  • Ability to properly mix paints and primers according to specified ratios and manufacturer requirements.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation, masking, priming, painting, and curing processes.
  • Basic ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and job instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished products.
  • Ability to recognize common paint and surface defects.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures when working with paints, solvents, chemicals, and related materials.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary evaluation when required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous aerospace or defense manufacturing painting experience.
  • Experience working with aerospace primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings.
  • Familiarity with paint thickness requirements and inspection standards.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or quality-controlled environment.


Schedule: M-F 7am-3:30pm 

Salary Expectations:

$22- $25 HR.
