Philanthropic Operations Specialist


Starting hourly range: $42.67 - $44.31 per hour / Annual salary range: $83,200 – $86,400 per year

Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly

This is an in-office position for the first 100 days. Requires in-office work five (5) days per week.


Following the first 100 days, staff have the flexibility to work two (2) days remotely. Mandatory in-office work days are Tuesdays & Wednesdays.

About the Role:


The Philanthropic Operations Specialist provides project management and customer service support to donors and funders across the Foundation. Coordinates across teams including Grants Management, Finance, Philanthropy and Programs to ensure high-quality support to external constituents. Provides administrative and project management support to internal staff for engagement, cultivation, and stewardship of key constituents, while prioritizing and multi-tasking with a high level of customer service.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three to five years related experience required, with a minimum of three years database (e.g Raiser’s Edge) and donor services experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of grantmaking processes and the nonprofit community in Los Angeles County.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides proactive, responsive and comprehensive customer service to donors, major funders, and system leaders with professionalism, timely attention to detail and coordination with other teams
  • Highly responsive to donor, funder, and other constituent requests for information pertaining to fund reporting and management, programmatic information, and grantmaking activities.
  • Provide project management support to the Office of Philanthropy department with donor projects and special requests, including administrative support, meeting coordination, and ensuring follow-up and action items are completed.
  • Manage programs in collaboration with multiple departments, ensuring stewardship and cultivation efforts are executed on time and meet milestones, including preparation of appeals and invitations, event management, and on-site event support.
  • Provides departmental administrative support including answering phones, data entry, research, mailings, electronic filing, creating donor giving pages online, and coordinating continuing education, as well as composing and processing correspondence, scheduling meetings, processing invoices, event coordination, and screening and directing telephone calls.
  • Maintains the integrity of CCF electronic files and records by following established protocols.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience with Blackbaud software and a willingness and ability to learn appropriate database, spreadsheet and other computer programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple demands, and follow tasks through to completion in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with proven customer service skills and experience writing customer-oriented policy and procedure documents.
  • Ability to assess, compile and disseminate information and independently complete assignments, with a self-initiated ability to analyze and improve development, operations, and other systems.
  • Knowledge of the Los Angeles County nonprofit community, government agencies, elected officials, civic leadership, diverse geographies and neighborhoods, with experience working effectively with diverse and broad-based community constituencies.

AD&D Insurance is covered at 100% of the employee's annual salary. 

CCF contributes 10% of all employee's salaries into our 403b retirement plan. CCF subsidizes monthly transit passes for staff who commute via public transportation. CCF also offers an assortment of snacks available to all staff in our breakrooms, and an on-site fitness center.

After one year of service, all full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement of up to $15,000 for higher education. CCF also offers a student loan repayment program of $100/month for all full-time employees after one year of service.
