Description

  

Brandow & Johnston is looking for a Project Engineer for our Los Angeles, CA office structural engineering department. The Project Engineer will assist with the design of new buildings, seismic evaluation, and retrofit of existing buildings as well as tenant improvement projects.


Responsibilities:

  •  Oversee design and construction for projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards. 
  • Participate in construction administration by conducting site observations and assessments to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Write detailed observation reports documenting site conditions, progress, and any discrepancies observed      during site visits.
  •  Provide structural calculations and develop analytical models to support design decisions and project requirements.
  • Demonstrate technical skills in engineering principles and practices, applying them effectively to solve complex design challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with CAD drafters to produce accurate and comprehensive construction documents.
  • Mentor and guide Design Engineers, fostering their professional growth and development in the field.
  • Meet with Architects, Contractors, Owners, and Clients to establish and cultivate strong working relationships, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Masters of Science Degree in Structural Engineering; preferred.
  • Two years of professional work experience in related field.
  • Professional engineering license in the State of California to practice Civil Engineering.
  • Intimate knowledge of general engineering principles, statics, dynamics of structures and general      engineering design.
  • Ability to perform increasingly complex engineering tasks with general supervision
  • Ability to read and produce civil and/or structural drawings
  • Ability to review civil and/or structural specifications.
