Job Summary
Arcstone Financial is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team. This role is responsible for underwriting Non-Agency/Non-QM mortgage loans and conducting thorough credit analysis to ensure compliance with corporate and secondary market investor standards. The Senior Underwriter will review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness in a prior approval environment, identify solutions, and render underwriting decisions for loans originated through wholesale and correspondent channels. Additionally, this position involves clearing conditions to ensure all product guidelines are met.

Key Responsibilities
- Completes a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor, and Non-Agency/Non-QM guidelines.
- Evaluates the entire credit package, capacity and collateral for residential and small balance commercial mortgage loans to ensure credit worthiness.
- Checks accuracy of all calculations.
- Perform manual underwriting review to ensure loan meets all product and property guidelines of Company and investors, as well as compliance with corporate and secondary market investor standards.
- Underwrite Non-Agency/Non-QM correspondent, wholesale/broker and retail loans in a timely manner to ensure loans meet all product and property guidelines of Company and investors, as well as meeting all established loan policies, credit limits and regulatory requirements.
- Clear conditions timely on loans; affirm data integrity on all submissions.
- Identify potential misrepresentation or fraud.
- Keep up-to-date with all guideline changes and system enhancements.
- Assists with the training of new underwriters.
- Recommends the loan disposition to the underwriting manager for loan amounts more than authority limitation.
- Maintains the company standard for productivity level and complies with company policy of 48-hour underwriting turnaround time and 24-hour turnaround time for clearing conditions.
- Communicates decisions on loans to appropriate parties both verbally and in writing.
- Maintains underwriting activity logs and provides monthly underwriting reports to the Director of Credit.
- Available to processors and correspondents for general guideline interpretations and questions on specific loan files.
- Responds to post closing reviews and audits in a timely fashion.
- Perform related tasks and additional responsibilities as directed by the Director of Credit or assigned by senior management.

Skills Requirements
- Working knowledge of Non-Agency/Non-QM underwriting guidelines demonstrated through a minimum of 5+ years underwriting experience on Non-Agency/Non-QM products.
- FHA and VA underwriting experience is desirable.
- High attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment.
- Strong interpersonal communication and business relationship skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-through skills.
- Excellent analytical, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Technologically proficient.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Encompass - Ellie Mae.
Experience | Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree preferred).
- Minimum three years of current mortgage underwriting experience, with solid working knowledge of underwriting guidelines.Â
- Experience with private investors and private mortgage insurance guidelines.
