About the Role
Join as an early engineer at a biotech startup digitizing the immune system to power clinical trials for major pharmaceutical developers. You'll work across the full stack — from customer-facing product features to machine learning pipelines — with direct impact on high-stakes scientific workflows.
What You'll Do
Build full-stack features including customer-facing trial dashboards, sample notification systems, and data visualization pipeline upgrades.
Implement machine learning techniques for automated boundary detection of cancer cells in cytometry data.
Automate lab workflows spanning sample preparation through data analysis.
Ship timely, reliable production code supporting clinical trials in a high-stakes environment.
Communicate directly with scientists and clients to inform product development with a customer-facing mindset.
What We're Looking For
Demonstrated track record of shipping production-grade software to real users at a quality-focused company (portfolio, open-source contributions, or shipped features as evidence).
Strong proficiency in Python for backend and data processing work.
Experience with React and TypeScript for front-end development.
Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including deploying scalable services.
Experience building customer-facing dashboards or data visualization tools.
Background working with large-scale scientific or complex datasets (e.g. genomics, cytometry, imaging, or similar domains).
Experience applying machine learning techniques to data analysis, particularly boundary detection or segmentation problems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working directly with scientists and clients.
Ability and willingness to work on-site full-time in Salt Lake City, UT or San Mateo, CA.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $90,000 – $160,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
