About the role

Omnis seeks extraordinary students to join us for engineering roles in Summer 2026. As an intern, you will work closely with your mentor and other employees who will help you apply your knowledge and grow your skills on projects that have a significant impact. The opportunity for you to take initiative and to operate with a high degree of autonomy and independence will be unparalleled. Internships are available with a variety of engineering teams across the company including design, manufacturing and operations in Los Angeles. 


Top priority will be placed on students with applicable coursework and project experience in the following areas:

  • Communications Engineering: Air interface design, Physical layer (PHY), media access control (MAC) layer, waveform design, protocols and modulation techniques, channel coding and error correction methodologies
  • Electrical Engineering: Hardware design, Power systems for satellites, Circuit design for modems and signal processing
  • Radio Frequency (RF) Engineering: Design of phased array antennas, RF circuit design and testing, etc)
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP): Algorithms for signal modulation and demodulation, Digital beamforming techniques
  • Silicon Engineering: ASIC implementation, RFIC implementation, firmware, architecture, design, validation, product engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering: Satellite system design and integration; Thermal and structural considerations in space environments
  • Network Engineering: Routing and data management strategies for satellite data
  • Guidance, Navigation & Control Systems Engineering: Attitude and orbit control systems for satellites; Feedback mechanisms for beam steering

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree, master's degree or PhD program in an engineering, physics or math discipline by the start of employment

3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)

Applicant for this intern position must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful permanent resident (e.g., green card holder), (iii) U.S. visa holder with proper U.S. work authorization (e.g. F-1 Visa - Academic Student), (iv) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (v) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158.


Preferred Skills and Experience

GPA of 3.5 or above

6+ months experience of application of technical skills outside of the classroom (examples: laboratory, research, extracurricular project teams, volunteering, personal projects or prior internship/work experience)

Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with technicians, other engineers, and managers

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic professional setting with changing needs and requirements

At Omnis, we’re leveraging our team’s experience in building LEO constellations, including the world’s most advanced broadband internet systems. We design, procure/build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites with cutting edge communications payloads, open reference designs for consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. This program includes roles in: Analysis, Automation & Controls, Avionics, Components Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Integration & Test Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Operations Engineering, Structures Design & Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering and more.


Compensation and Benefits

Engineering Intern (completed Freshman/Sophomore year): $28.00/hour

Engineering Intern (completed Junior/Senior year): $30.00/hour


Your salary will be determined by academic level. Students joining Omnis through our internship program will receive the opportunity to attend presentations from company leaders, social and networking events, as well as professional and personal development trainings. Interns are also eligible for paid company holidays. Omnis offers 10 or more paid holidays per year.
