This position is full time (40 hours / week), Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 pm - 4:30 am. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. 

We offer 8 weeks of paid on-the-job training. The hours of training will be 9:00 am - 5:00 pm from Monday - Friday. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.   

   

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for emergency department registration staff 
  • Have a working knowledge of computer applications
  • Demonstrate, leadership and analytical thinking capability
  • Requires working knowledge of insurance including Commercial Contracts, Managed Care, and Government Programs including Federal, State, and local agencies
  • Have knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Organizes workflow to ensure accurate and timely team performance
  • Supervises the work schedule, always ensuring adequate and appropriate coverage of all positions
  • Selects and delegates training and orientation of new staff
  • Assigns staff responsibilities and evaluates performance
  • Counsels' employees on problem areas of registration and performance

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent years of work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 2+ years of experience working in a hospital patient registration department OR physician office setting
  • 1+ years of supervisor / management OR team lead experience in healthcare
  • Experience verifying patient insurance 
  • Working knowledge of medical benefits and medical terminology
  • Ability to work full time onsite in the emergency department at California Hospital Medical Center, 1401 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA, 90015
  • Ability to train for the first 8 weeks between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm from Monday - Friday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in ER Registration
  • Bilingual fluency in English and any other language
