Job Summary:

The Stock & Operations Supervisor is responsible for the accurate and efficient execution of inventory and store operations within the Flagship store. This includes shipping and receiving, stock organization, inventory control, product flow, client fulfillment, and loss prevention.

 

As a key operational partner, this role sets a strong example of organization, accuracy, urgency, and presentation. The Stock & Operations Supervisor works closely with Store and Retail Management to maintain operational readiness, support the sales team, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

 

Depending on the selected candidate’s experience, this position may be structured as an experienced individual-contributor lead or as a supervisory role with responsibility for delegating work, training employees, and overseeing the day-to-day performance of the Stock & Operations team.

 

Final title, compensation, reporting structure, and level of supervisory responsibility will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, capabilities, and the operational needs of the store.

 

Stock & Operations Supervisor

Reports To: Store Manager and/or Operations Manager

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set the standard for operational excellence by consistently following company policies, procedures, and loss-prevention practices.
  • Process and oversee shipping and receiving activities accurately and efficiently, verifying merchandise quantities and quality against documentation and escalating discrepancies to management.
  • Maintain clean, organized, accessible, and secure front-of-house and back-of-house stock areas, with merchandise arranged by style, color, size, or other direction from management.
  • Ensure merchandise is properly ticketed, tagged, packaged, and logged to support inventory accuracy and prevent loss.
  • Maintain an organized shipping area and ensure all outgoing merchandise is properly prepared and documented.
  • Provide quick and accurate stock checks and deliver requested merchandise to the sales floor in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and manage client shipments, store-to-store transfers, product transfers, and returns to vendor in accordance with company standards.
  • Partner with central distribution and corporate inventory control to reconcile transfers, damages, returns, and inventory variances.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and support mid-year, year-end, and other scheduled physical inventories.
  • Organize, review, and communicate inventory results, investigate discrepancies, and identify trends or recurring issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels in Shopify and ensure all inventory-related data entry is completed promptly and correctly.
  • Process damaged merchandise according to company standards and established timelines.
  • Maximize available stockroom and back-office space to improve accessibility, product flow, and overall store efficiency.
  • Monitor and replenish packaging, shipping, and operational supplies as needed.
  • Communicate proactively with Store Management and the sales team regarding new arrivals, replenishment, stock availability, client returns, damages, and inventory concerns.
  • Support the sales floor as needed by running sizes, locating merchandise, assisting with register transactions, and advising employees on product availability.
  • Assist with floor moves, price changes, visual updates, and general store upkeep.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, accuracy, organization, and efficiency, and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Assist with onboarding and training employees on inventory, stockroom, shipping, receiving, and operational procedures.
  • At the supervisory level, delegate daily assignments, monitor execution, coach team members, and hold the Stock & Operations team accountable for established standards.
  • Participate in and, when appropriate, help lead store meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment.
  • Serve as a designated keyholder, responsible for safely opening and closing the store, securing the premises
  • Complete additional duties, projects, and operational responsibilities as assigned by Store Management.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+  years of experience in retail stock, inventory, shipping and receiving, or store operations; candidates with additional experience may be considered for expanded supervisory responsibility.
  • Previous lead, training, or supervisory experience is preferred for candidates considered at the higher level.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in merchandise handling, documentation, and data entry.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaborate effectively across store teams.
  • Ability to provide direction, reinforce standards, and support the development of other employees.
  • Professional, dependable, and personable demeanor with a strong team orientation.
  • Proficiency with Shopify, Microsoft Office, Mac computers, POS terminals, tablets, phone systems, or comparable retail technology.
  • Strong customer-service skills and a willingness to support both operational and client-facing needs.
  • Consistent punctuality and attendance.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; some college education preferred.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the store and stock areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and handle boxes, merchandise, and fixtures weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, climb, turn, and perform routine physical stockroom activities safely.
